With multiple used face masks and two very excited little girls, we were escorted off the A350 by officials dressed as astronauts. We were greeted at Sydney’s International Airport by two very excited Grandparents and 14 days in isolation. That’s when it hit me, in 24 hours our life had changed forever. It was awful but it was awful for everyone everywhere!

I have felt a sadness I have never experienced before, I have been paralysed by grief and drowning in tears. My heart is heavy and I am lost, I just don’t know what to do. A month has passed and it feels like yesterday, I want to pick up the phone and hear her voice but I know she won't answer.

Having never been to The Hamptons, I make this observation purely from bad TV shows and the Breakfast Point marketing material. Located on Sydney Harbour (? - this is questionable) and only a ferry ride from Sydney CBD, Breakfast Point is a waterfront oasis hiding from a chaotic world.

I don’t know where this post is coming from or what I am trying to achieve. I’m running on no gas, I’m super tired and scared of what the immediate future holds. I may look ok on the outside but the inside is not dissimilar to a bomb waiting to explode. I know this is all cryptic, it’s not intentionally a cryptic style Facebook post.

So Saturday morning at 0730 we headed to the emergency pediatrician. By this stage, there was quite a bit of yellow gunk coming out of her ear which was all through her hair and over her bed, she was also complaining it was sore. The pediatrician did a swab, put her on a strong course of antibiotics and told us to come back tomorrow.

We’ve missed so many Christmas’s, birthdays, weddings, arrivals of nephews, anniversaries, saying final goodbyes and the list just goes on. At what point do you go “That’s enough, we need to go home?”, how do you make that decision when you have two 5 year olds…

Greencity is still rather grey, although as spring arrives some of the trees are getting leaves and things are getting greener. Maybe with time they’ll plant some lawn. Lol. The apartment is good though and is exactly what we wanted.

So next week we move into our new apartment and guess what, I am going to start running again. Ok, marathons maybe a little extreme at this stage but you never know. I’m well aware I will never be running the New York City marathon again but we all need to have dreams.

So, I was talking to my sister the other day and mentioned that I was looking for a new TV show and she mentioned New Amsterdam. I fell in love before she had finished the first sentence and was completely addicted before I had even watched it.

There’s lots of procrastinating happening and lots of mess appearing but most of that is the twiglets. Heaven help us when we do actually start packing boxes and throwing out rubbish. I can just see the drawing and painting on the cardboard boxes.

There’s lots of Versace and the occasional diamond or 5 plus the obligatory child birth. Yes it’s reality, yes it’s trash but I love the 3 Melbourne Yummy Mummies. I even had my husband watching it until the second baby shower. Uh oh. It’s clear the Adelaide vs Melbourne debate is alive and well.

We are thinking about heading to Australia later this year and it’s quite well known that the Middle Eastern (Qatar, Emirates, Etihad) carriers have become far cheaper than the Asian (Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific) and legacy European carriers especially direct from Zurich.

We have stickers instead of a Star Chart and we have a Naughty Chair instead of a Naughty Step but the principles are all the same. I love my little darlings to the moon and back but my goodness they test my patience on a daily basis. I guess that is what parenting is all about, eh?

Recently I stumbled across Vanderpump Rules on iTvBe and being a Bravo production I was sure I was going to like it but I didn’t realise quite how much. It’s sort of become an evil addiction. It’s interesting to see where the ‘stars’ started in season 1 to where they are now (season 7 I think).

So I thought it would be a cool idea to post all of our Instagram photos from 2018 in one place. I only just realised that in 2018 I didn’t post in January, February, March, May, June, July, August, September and October. That means I did post in April, November and December.

We are moving house in March, the twins start Kindergarten (first year of school here in Zurich) and apart from that there is nothing really planned. I think we have quite a few international guests (mainly Australians) visiting from spring on wards but apart from that there are no real plans.

Enjoy it when it’s fabulous and suck up the bits of shit along the way. What I learnt more than anything in 2018 is that although my year wasn’t fabulous, there were lots of highlights and someone else’s year was a lot worse than mine.

If you have looked at any UK news website over the past couple of days you will know that there is a drone hovering around London Gatwick airport. Drones, airports and planes do not mix well and as a result this drone has managed to close the airport down for the third day in a row.

As she kicks me in the face while fast asleep (she’s decided to top and tail), I so want to send her back to bed but I also know these days are limited and want to capture every last moment I can. I’ll regret it later if I don’t, correct? Am I completely crazy, barking mad or just being a Daddy?
